Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) disenchanted leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday raised red flags about the forthcoming general elections transparency.
Expressing his reservations during the Samaa News program "Nadeem Malik Live" Abbasi urged political, judicial, and military leaders to come together and strategize for the upcoming elections.
Addressing the Election Commission's announcement of February 8 as the election date, Mr Abbasi insisted on the importance of adhering to the schedule.

He warned that any deviation from the prescribed timeline would require an explanation.
Abbasi slams Panama case and JIT proceedings
Reflecting on the Panama case, the former premier criticized the inclusion of Nawaz Sharif's children's names and labeled Nawaz Sharif's appearance before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) as a significant mistake.
He asserted that JIT lacked legal standing and called for repercussions for the July 28, 2017 Supreme Court verdict.
Faizabad 'Dharna'
Discussing his role during the Faizabad sit-in, Abbasi acknowledged responsibility for actions during his tenure.
Shahid Khaqan clarified that while he accepted responsibility for government-related matters, he was not accountable for the D-Chowk sit-in.
He advocated for a truth commission to investigate the events surrounding the protest.
Abbasi raised concerns about attempts to disrupt the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during the sit-in and called for the establishment of a truth commission to investigate the allegations.
He emphasised the need for transparency and unbiased inquiry.
Nawaz Sharif's Avenfield acquittal
Regarding Nawaz Sharif's acquittal in the Avenfield reference, Abbasi maintained that the former prime minister had no connection to the Avenfield apartment.
He criticized the trial process, labeling it as a "comedy trial" and called for an end to what he deemed a baseless legal battle.
