The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday announced that it has successfully finalised all arrangements for the upcoming elections scheduled for February 8.
ECP's statement comes in response to allegations made by the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which the commission dismissed as a failed attempt to mislead the public.
However, the electoral watchdog in its statement emphasised that the appointment of District Returning Officers (DROs) and Returning Officers (ROs) had been successfully executed, and training sessions for these officials were underway nationwide.
Addressing the controversy surrounding the appointment of DROs and ROs, the ECP also acknowledged PTI's challenge to the appointments.
In light of the suspension of these appointments, the ECP stated that a thorough assessment of the situation had been conducted, and decisions regarding the future course of action would be made imminently.
It was clarified that the Election Commission, responsible for overseeing the electoral process, cannot be held accountable for the existing circumstances.
The statement underscored the necessity of proper training for DROs and ROs to uphold the integrity and efficiency of the electoral proceedings.
