The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered the Secretary Cabinet Division to remove advisor to the PM Ahad Cheema from the post immediately.
In a setback to the caretaker government, the ECP issued an order to the Secretary Cabinet Division to remove the adviser to the PM Ahad Cheema.
The top electoral body said that Ahad Cheema remained part of the previous cabinet and could influence the elections.
The ECP directed the Cabinet Division to issue a notification for the removal of Ahad Cheema.

Accountability Court of Lahore Friday acquitted former bureaucrat Ahad Cheema from reference of assets over income and his name has been exempted from NAB’s reference.
The Accountability Court accepted the acquittal request of Ahad Cheema while accountability Court judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain announced the reserved verdict.
The National Accountability Beware (NAB) Lahore had filed a reference against Ahad Cheema in 2018.
An accountability court of Lahore has acquitted former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and others of all the charges in the Aashiana Iqbal reference.
Announcing a reserved verdict, the court on Saturday accepted the application for acquittal filed by 10 suspects, including Shehbaz Sharif, Fawad Hassan Fawad and Ahad Cheema.
Other suspects included Imtiaz Haider, Bilal Kidwai, Shahid Mahmood, Munir Zia, Shahid Shafiq, Ali Sajjad Bhutta and Muhammad Sadiq.
The court has previously already acquitted Nadeem Zia and Kamran Kiani in the case.
