Lahore Airport authorities foiled a smuggling attempt and recovered 2.5 kilograms of ice drugs from the possession of a couple intended to travel to Doha from Lahore.
According to airport security force officials, Akash Masih and Ani Akash had arrived at Allama Iqbal Airport to fly to Doha. The couple's luggage was declared suspicious during screening.
According to an ASF spokesperson, during a detailed search of the cargo, 2,490 kg of ice heroin was recovered, the heroin was kept in two separate packets of 1,250 and 1,250 kg. Packets full of drugs were recovered from the secret compartments of the bags.
The spokesman said that the ASF personnel professionally recovered the drugs and thwarted the smuggling attempts. After an initial investigation, the accused have been handed over to the ANF authorities for further legal action along with the recovered drugs.
Moreover, drugs worth crores of rupees were recovered from a passenger going to Bahrain, as per ASF, accused Waqas had hidden one and a half kg of ice in the bottom of the bag.
