The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has written a letter to the media regulatory authority, pointing out alleged violations of the election code of conduct by some TV channels.
The letter seeks action from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) against media houses violating the election code of conduct. Some channels are broadcasting poll surveys, which is prohibited according to the election rules, the letter stated.
Print and electronic media have been prevented from conducting surveys and polls at polling stations and constituencies. These activities influence the voter and disrupt the election process, the ECP letter says.

It has asked PEMRA to take immediate action against such channels and submit a report.
Meanwhile, the ECP has also filed a review petition in the Peshawar High Court, challenging the order related to the election symbol of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as well as its intra-party election.
The review petition, filed by the commission's lawyer, urged the formation of a special two-member bench for an expedited hearing. Additionally, the petition seeks the lifting of the injunction and the establishment of a divisional bench to oversee the case.
