Former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Faiz Hameed, has recorded his statement before the Faizabad dharna inquiry commission.
Sources said that the former ISI director general has answered the questions provided by the commission.
The sources further said that Faiz Hameed has claimed he negotiated with the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) on the instructions of the then government of the PML-N, led by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif refused to appear before the commission on being summoned on January 3.
As per sources, Shehbaz had asked for a questionnaire before appearing in front of the commission to record his statement. He was later sent the document at his request and will appear before the commission after preparing his answers.
Shehbaz Sharif had been summoned by the commission in his capacity as the then chief minister of Punjab.
The commission probing into the 2017 Faizabad sit-in of the TLP was working under the chairmanship of former inspector general of police (IGP) Dr. Akhtar Ali Shah.

The caretaker federal government had established an inquiry commission into the Faizabad sit-in. The commission, led by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP Shah, also includes Additional Interior Secretary Khushal Khan and a former IGP of Islamabad.
According to an official notification, this three-member commission was tasked with identifying the individuals responsible for orchestrating the Faizabad sit-in. Moreover, the commission held the authority to recommend legal actions against those found culpable.
