The Election Tribunal on Tuesday rejected on Tuesday former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry's nomination papers.
Fawad Chaudhry, hailing from Jhelum, faced a setback as his nomination papers for the National Assembly seats NA-60 and NA-61 were rejected by the Election Tribunal at the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench.
Subsequently, appeals challenging this decision were submitted to the Election Tribunal during the hearing.
In the course of the proceedings, Officer Falak Sher Khokhar, representing the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), presented the documents in court, responding to inquiries from Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz, the presiding judge of the Election Tribunal.
Additional Attorney General Malik Sadiq asserted that Fawad Chaudhry neither objected to the tax return documents nor made any sworn statement.
Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry's wife, Hiba Chaudhry, also faced disqualification from participating in the elections due to the rejection of her nomination papers.
