In a significant decision for students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the annual matriculation (9th and 10th grade) exams have been postponed by a month to April 18, previously scheduled for March 14.
This shift comes in response to requests from students and parents who expressed concerns about clashing with the holy month of Ramazan, traditionally observed in March or April.
The chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar emphasised the importance of considering Ramazan and respecting the sentiments of the community after students and parents requested them to do so. This sentiment was echoed during a meeting of all board chairmen in the province, leading to the unanimous decision to reschedule the exams.

Meanwhile, Punjab's education authorities remain steadfast with their originally planned schedule for the matriculation exams. As per the committee of chairmen of Punjab boards, the 10th class exams will kick off on March 1, while the 9th class exams will follow on March 19. This divergence in scheduling between the two provinces highlights the unique challenges and diverse considerations within Pakistan's education system.
