Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari said on Thursday that Pakistan wants friendly relations with its neighbouring countries.
Expressing his thoughts in connection with Iran's strikes on Pakistan, the former president said: “Those who will look to attack Pakistan will be given a strong response.”
He said, “We want good relations with our neighbours. We want steadfast relations with neighbours in terms of equality. The country has always embraced peace.”.
He lavished his praise on the Pak Army, saying, "The Pak Army is the world’s best army. Our armed forces are fully capable of defending the country.”
– US condemns Iran's strikes on Pakistan, Syria, Iraq –
The United States has condemned Iran's recent attacks in Pakistan, Iraq and Syria, which Tehran said were carried out against "anti-Iranian terrorist groups".
"So we do condemn those strikes. We've seen Iran violate the sovereign borders of three of its neighbors in just the past couple of days," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters during a briefing.
He further said, in response to a question, that the US always wanted to see peace and stability, "especially in this region, where it’s been the focus of our diplomatic efforts since October 7".
Pakistan on Wednesday recalled its ambassador to Iran and blocked an Iranian envoy from returning to Islamabad after an airstrike in Balochistan killed two children. The raid took place late on Tuesday following similar attacks in Iraq and Syria.
