On a petition against the alleged harassment of Buhsra Bibi at the hands of the police and FIA in the audio leaks case, the Islamabad High Court noted that it will be compelled to issue notices to the sensitive agencies if the response of the Interior Ministry and the PTA was unsatisfactory.
Moreover, the suspension of the summons issued to former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar's son before a parliamentary committee in the audio leaks case was also extended by a month.
Justice Babar Sattar heard Bushra Bibi's petition against her phone bugging and audio leaks as well as former CJP Nisar's son Najam Saqib's petition against summoning him in the parliamentary committee in the audio leaks case.
The deputy attorney general did not appear for being occupied in the Supreme Court. The Interior Ministry and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority submitted their written replies that were declared unsatisfactory by the court.
Justice Sattar remarked that from the reply it seems no one can record a telephonic conversation. The court is showing patience and giving the last chance. The government should respond, otherwise the intelligence agencies will be directly made a party.
Advocate Latif Khosa told the court that the FIA called Bushra Bibi daily and asked her to record her voice for matching, adding she is being harassed by being repeatedly called.
Justice Babar Sattar said he could not stop an investigation agency from conducting a probe.
The Interior Ministry told the court they had no role in the audio recording nor had they made the recordings in the present case.
The court adjourned the hearing by extending the order suspending the summons to the former chief justice's son to a parliamentary committee by a month.
