Liaquat Baloch, the central vice-president of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), while talking to the media person, said that after the elections, the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) contacted his party on a common strategy in the emerging situation.
Baloch said that Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir consulted with the central leadership and established a committee under his leadership consisting of Prof Muhammad Ibrahim, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vice amir Inayatullah Khan.
The committee members contacted Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Barrister Gohar Khan, Chairman PTI, Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub Khan, and Mohammad Azam Khan Swati and discussed the country's election situation.
He said: “JI apprised PTI leaders that Jamaat-e-Islami has major concerns about the Elections 2024. Changing the election results and reversing the results forcefully is a disgrace and a bad game for democracy which will harm the country and democracy.”
Baloch said that Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) welcomed the candidates who won the public mandate.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leadership praised PTI for securing victory by fielding independent candidates and winning peoples’ support by upholding democratic values. JI conveyed unconditional cooperation for PTI leadership.
Change of stance
He said: “At the last stage, the leadership of PTI sent a message that they wanted cooperation only to the form Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), while at the National Assembly, they would not cooperate with JI.”
Liaquat Baloch said JI will consult party leadership and respond to PTI leaders about their change of stance.
Liaquat Baloch said: “Jamaat-e-Islami decided that cooperation between PTI and JI at the national level would be in the national interest but PTI has changed its position.”
