The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has emerged as the largest party in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly following the inclusion of numerous independent members.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly saw a substantial influx of independent members joining the Sunni Ittehad Council after the general elections. With a staggering 90 independent members aligning themselves with the party, it has secured its position as the dominant force in the House.
This way, out of the 26 reserved seats for women, it is expected to easily secure 21. Furthermore, all four reserved seats for minorities are expected to be claimed by the party as well.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has seen its ranks swell by the inclusion of three independent members, bringing their total count to eight in the provincial assembly. This increase in number allows the PML-N to secure two seats reserved for women.
Similarly, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) will also get two seats for women, with its representation in the KP Assembly totalling seven. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), with its four members, is expected to secure one seat for women.
This political realignment signals a shift in the power dynamics within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, with the Sunni Ittehad Council emerging as a formidable force. The inclusion of independent members has significantly bolstered the party's representation and influence, setting the stage for potential policy changes and legislative initiatives in the province.
