Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Mustafa Kamal has acknowledged the authenticity of an audio recording circulating on social media, which sparked controversy and speculation regarding internal party negotiations.
In a statement, he admitted that the voice in the recording was indeed his. He clarified the context, stating that the audio captured him informing the MQM Coordination Committee about ongoing discussions with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party.
According to the MQM-P leader, the leaked audio reveals him highlighting concerns surrounding the stance of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) towards MQM. He claims the PPP has labelled their mandate "fake" and publicly expressed this opinion on television channels.
Furthermore, Kamal alleged that the audio captures him discussing the PPP’s alleged communication with the PML-N, suggesting that the former informed the latter that “the numbers are complete,” implying MQM's presence was not necessary.
However, he emphasized that the information disclosed in the audio itself is not newsworthy. He contends that the true revelation lies in the presence of “MQM London people” within the coordination committee, implying individuals loyal to the MQM London faction still hold influence.
He further stated, “Now we know who is “Ghus Bathiya” (the mole) we were waiting for a long time,” suggesting the leaked audio serves as conclusive proof. He concluded by accusing MQM London of releasing the recording earlier that morning.
