The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) protested on Thursday against becoming part of the cabinet unless the government accepted its demands.
Sources divulged that the MQM-P had apprised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of its decision. The MQM-P had forwarded the demand to seek four ministries in the federal cabinet.
According to sources, the talks with the MQM-P were underway, and soon the matter will be settled with the MQM-P.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stresses need for upholding democracy
MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Thursday stressed the need for upholding democracy in the country.
Expressing his thoughts, Siddiqui said: “The democracy cannot be strengthened unless the participation of the masses in the process is ensured.”
He underscored the importance of the supremacy of the constitution, saying, “Everybody needs to follow the country’s constitution.”
“We would not let the leader derail the democracy for the election of the speaker and deputy speaker tomorrow,” he added.
