Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday hoped that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would play a “positive” role.
Speaking to the media flanked by PML-N leader Atta Tarar in Islamabad, the former planning minister said: “The nomination papers of Shehbaz Sharif for the prime minister slot had been approved.”
“We [PML-N] did not raise objections to the nomination papers of Omar Ayub. We want to move forward with democracy,” he added.
Denouncing the politics of unrest, Iqbal said: “Nobody will be allowed to stage the politics revolving around the anarchy.”
He maintained: “We got to start the new journey of development by forgetting any differences.”
Taking a jibe at the PTI, Iqbal said: “The PTI has a habit of causing uproar and rigging in every election. The speaker had denounced the allegations of the PTI”.
“The PTI is urging the United States to provide the NRO to their leader. The PTI is also requesting the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to provide the NRO to their leader,” he added.
Iqbal added, “The PTI founder is not going to get the NRO. He should prove his innocence before the courts.”
– Charter of economy –
Separately on Friday, Atta Tarar said that his party had already emphasised the need for a charter of the economy.
Expressing his thoughts, Tarar took a jibe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying, "You [PTI] want to derail the democracy in the country."
Tarar questioned: "Under which capacity had the letter been penned to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)?"
