In the ICC Test Championship, India won first place.
Two-time finalists according to the ICC World Test Championship 2023–25 rankings, India has taken the lead. This shift comes after New Zealand's defeat to Australia in the first Test in Wellington, causing the 2021 WTC champions to slip to the second spot.
With 36 points from four games prior to the Wellington Test, New Zealand was leading the pack with a point’s percentage of 75. But after their crushing 172-run loss, the Kiwis are currently ranked No. 2 with a 60 points percentage, having won three and lost two.
India, who had 62 points after 8 games to take second place, has now surged to the lead with a strong points percentage of 64.58. The Indian squad has split its two losses and one tie in five games.
If Australia wins the second and last Test of the current series, they will have a chance to move up and take second place from New Zealand. Furthermore, Australia might take the top rank if England wins the next Test in Dharamsala against India, who are already leading the series 3-1.
