Several parts of Pakistan were shaken by a strong earthquake early on Wednesday morning.
As per reports, the tremors were felt in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Punjab, including Peshawar, in and around Landikotal, Mansehra, Nowshera, upper Dir, Attock, Swat, Malakand, Lahore, twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Gujrat, Sialkot to name a few cities.
The earthquake was also reportedly felt in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
People living in cities across upper Punjab and many areas of KP took to social media to report experiencing the quake.

As per the National Seismological Centre in Islamabad, the earthquake had an intensity of 5.9 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was located in the Hindukush mountain region in Afghanistan with a depth of just 89 kilometres.
The USGS reported the earthquake to have originated 69 kilometres from Parun town of Afghanistan's Nuristan province, with an intensity of 5.6 on the Richter scale.
On April 12, Pakistan was struck by two strong earthquake tremors within the span of an hour, creating panic among residents across multiple cities.
The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale, struck at 11:54am. Its epicenter was located near the Pak-Afghan-Tajikistan border, at a depth of 88 kilometers.

The tremors were felt primarily in Swat and surrounding areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing brief alarm among residents.
Just 36 minutes later, at 12:30pm, a second and stronger earthquake hit, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale. This quake's epicenter was located 60 kilometers from Rawalpindi, with a much shallower depth of just 12 kilometers.
The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Gujar Khan, Haripur, Abbottabad, Attock, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Jhang, Taxila, Wah Cantt, and surrounding areas.
