A number of leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have been booked in multiple cases for protesting and taking out rallies in Lahore and Islamabad.
In the capital city, a case was filed by Kohsar police against PTI leaders and workers for organizing a rally. The case lists PTI leadership along with 1,000 unnamed individuals, accusing them of interfering with government operations, violating Section 144, and display of weapons.
Among those named in the case are prominent PTI figures such as Sher Afzal Marwat, Ali Bukhari, Shafqat Awan, and Shoaib Shaheen. Additionally, Aamir Mughal, Shaukat Basra, Ayaz Amir, Khalid Khurshid, and Seemabia Tahir have also been booked in the case in connection with the rally.
Meanwhile, in Lahore, PTI leaders and workers faced further legal troubles after their arrest on Sunday from GPO Chowk on The Mall road, as six cases were registered against them in the Old Anarkali, Shahdara, South Cantt and Ichhra police stations on Monday. The charges levied against them include serious offences such as terrorism, kidnapping, interference in official work, and harassment.
Fauzia, Hadira, and Hamida Bibi have been named in the case, with the FIR alleging that during the protest, Hafiz Farhat Abbas incited workers to damage government property and commit acts of arson. The FIR also reports that PTI workers damaged an official vehicle and that Abbas and four to five unidentified accomplices fired several shots during the demonstration.
Furthermore, it is claimed that one of the shots fired by the suspects also hit an official vehicle, while Farhat Abbas and his associates tore off a police constable's uniform and attempted to kidnap him; he was recovered from Istanbul Chowk.
In response to the incident, police have arrested 42 individuals and seized sticks used by the protesters.
