Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant assured on Sunday that the nation stands ready to confront any potential developments involving Iran, following recent threats from Tehran in response to the killing of Iranian generals on April 1.
In the wake of Tehran's retaliatory rhetoric, including warnings about the safety of Israeli embassies, Gallant conducted a comprehensive "operational situation assessment" with senior military officials. After the assessment, Gallant's office released a statement underscoring Israel's preparedness for various scenarios vis-à-vis Iran.
"The defence establishment has completed preparations for responses in the event of any scenario that may develop," asserted Gallant's office.
Chief of General Staff, Herzi Halevi, echoed Gallant's sentiment, emphasizing Israel's capability to address Iranian threats both offensively and defensively. "We know how to act forcefully against Iran in both near and distant places. We are operating in cooperation with the USA and strategic partners in the region," Halevi stated during televised remarks.
Tensions escalated following a suspected Israeli strike in Damascus last week, which resulted in the death of seven Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps members, including a senior commander. Iranian officials, including senior adviser Yahya Rahim Safavi, have declared that none of Israel's embassies are safe anymore and have emphasized Iran's right to confront Israel.
In a display of military prowess, Iran's semi-official ISNA news agency published a graphic showcasing nine different types of Iranian missiles purportedly capable of reaching Israel.
While Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement in the Damascus strike, its leaders have reiterated their commitment to countering Iranian influence, particularly in support of militant groups like Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The United States, along with Israel, is on high alert, bracing for potential attacks by Iran targeting their assets in the region. This heightened state of vigilance stems from historical tensions, including Iran's alleged involvement in the deadly 1994 bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires, which claimed the lives of 85 people. Tehran has consistently denied any role in the attack.
As diplomatic tensions persist, Israel remains steadfast in its readiness to confront any threats emanating from Iran, underscoring the region's volatile geopolitical landscape.
