A rare giant black whale has been sighted alive in the coastal region of Gadani in Balochistan, marking a remarkable historic first in marine wildlife observation.
The awe-inspiring sighting occurred approximately two to three kilometres from the Gadani coast, where onlookers witnessed the rare majestic creature gracefully navigating the open sea.
Estimated to be as long as 100 feet and as wide as 50 feet, with a weight exceeding 150 tonnes, this extraordinary black whale represents a rare and elusive species seldom seen in marine environments.
This event marks the first time in Gadani's history that a live whale of such magnitude has been observed, contrasting with past incidents where deceased whales were found stranded along different Balochistan beaches.
Local fishermen, awed by the sighting, expressed optimism about the presence of the whale near the shore, considering it a sign of good luck for their endeavours at sea.
The black whale holds the distinction of being one of the largest species of whales in marine life, characterized by its rarity and immense size, which can range from 10 tons to a staggering 200 tons.
However, while the region has increasingly become a breeding ground for aquatic biodiversity, yet it faces threats from illegal trawler activities that disrupt the delicate ecosystem and endanger rare species.
