In a move aimed at addressing energy needs and promoting sustainable solutions, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has unveiled plans to distribute free solar systems to deserving individuals nationwide.
Speaking to the media in Sukkur, PPP leader Khurshid Shah detailed the initiative, which seeks to equip households with solar systems capable of generating up to 300 units of electricity.
The seasoned politician stressed the alignment of this initiative with the party's election manifesto, which pledged to provide free electricity to consumers utilizing up to 300 units of power upon assuming government responsibilities.
However, Shah cautioned that the implementation of the program would require time, reflecting the complexity of such an undertaking.
The PPP's announcement comes amid similar pledges from other political entities, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), whose Vice President had previously outlined plans to furnish free electricity to consumers consuming up to 200 units.
Notably, the provincial government of Punjab, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, recently unveiled its own ambitious initiative to distribute solar systems across the province. In a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nawaz, it was disclosed that 50,000 solar systems would be disbursed in the first phase of the program.
Dubbed the "solar home solution program," spearheaded by Chief Minister Nawaz, the endeavor aims to outfit households with cutting-edge solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other essential components. A substantial allocation of 12.6 billion rupees has been earmarked for the initial phase of program implementation.
