A terrorist ringleader was killed, and two security personnel martyred during an intelligence-based operation in Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Buner district on April 13, on the reported presence of terrorists.
During the operation, terrorist ringleader Saleem alias Rabbani was gunned down after an intense exchange of fire, while two other terrorists were injured.
The ISPR said Saleem alias Rabbani was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces, as well as extortion and target killings of innocent civilians. He was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies, while the government had fixed head money of Rs5 million on him, the statement added.
However, during the operation, two soldiers, Lance Havildar Mudassar Mehmood, 36, a resident of Rawalpindi district; and Lance Naik Haseeb Javed, 27, a resident of Poonch district of Azad Kashmir, were martyred.
The ISPR further said that a sanitization operation was being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area. The security forces remained determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism, and such sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthened their resolve, it added.
