Punjab Health Department said 44-year-old Imran, a resident of Attock, passed away due to the Congo virus making it the first case reported of the Congo virus in Punjab in 2024.
As per the provincial health department, 16 cases and six deaths have been reported in Punjab in the last four years.
As per the statistics, this was the fourth Congo virus case and the first death reported.
“Congo is a dangerous disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans,” the Punjab health department.
In Punjab, 10 cases were reported in 2020 in which one person expired while three deaths were reported in 2022.
According to health officials, in 2023, five confirmed cases and three deaths were reported in Punjab.
