The federal government has taken strict notice of the unauthorized and open publication of sensitive and confidential information on social media.
Those disclosing confidential information and documents on social media platforms will be prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif posted on his official X account that the spread of such information could harm Pakistan's strategic and economic interests, as well as damage relations with friendly and brotherly countries.

Asif further said that cases would be registered under the Official Secrets Act 2023 against all the people found guilty of the said crime. Strict action would be taken against the persons directly or indirectly involved, and the punishment for this crime was two-year imprisonment and a fine.
