In a unique initiative aimed at raising awareness about traffic laws, Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Ammara Athar announced that no traffic challans will be issued in the city on Monday.
Instead, citizens violating traffic rules will receive warnings as part of an educational campaign.
The CTO stated that the primary goal of this campaign is to educate citizens about traffic regulations and encourage compliance with the laws. "The purpose of Education Day is to make citizens obey the laws," she emphasized, adding that the initiative seeks to foster a sense of responsibility among the public regarding traffic safety.
Special camps have been established on major thoroughfares, including Mall Road, Jail Road, and Ferozepur Road, where traffic wardens will provide information and guidance to citizens about traffic rules. These camps are set up to facilitate direct interaction with the public, ensuring that the message of safe driving practices is effectively communicated.
CTO Athar also noted that the purpose of issuing challans is to create an awareness of the mistakes made by drivers. However, today's focus will be on education rather than enforcement, allowing citizens to learn from their errors without facing immediate penalties.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and reduce traffic violations in Lahore. By prioritizing education over punishment for a day, the traffic police hope to instill a long-lasting understanding and respect for traffic laws among the city's drivers.
