National Assembly resumed discussion on the address of President Asif Ali Zardari to the joint sitting of the Senate and the National Assembly.
Responding to another calling attention notice, Ali Pervaiz Malik said a safety commission of the European Union de-listed Pakistan from its air safety concern list last month. Similarly, Pakistan has submitted its action plan to another safety list which is under verification process. He expressed the confidence that Pakistan Airlines flights to Europe will be resumed soon.
The House will now meet again on Monday at five in the evening.
Taking the floor, Muhammad Jawed Hanif Khan said Pakistan is at a crossroads facing multifaceted challenges like economy and political stability. He said drastic changes are needed to steer the country out of crises and bring political stability.
Ayesha Nazir Jutt drew the attention of the House towards the precarious situation of farmers and called for addressing their concerns on a priority basis.
Mubarak Zeb said that the scourge of terrorism must be dealt with iron hands to establish peace in the country.
Abdul Latif said more funds should be diverted for the development of under-developed areas like Chitral. Those, who spoke on the occasion, include Umair Khan Niazi said Sahibzada Muhammad Hamid Raza.
Newly elected members of the House Ali Qasim Gilani and Zainab Mahmood Baloch took oath as members of the National Assembly today.
Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah administered the oath.
Responding to a calling attention notice, Minister of State for Power Division Ali Pervaiz Malik said load-shedding of six to ten hours is being carried out only on high loss feeders of the K-Electric in Karachi. He said feeders showing losses of over twenty-five percent face load-shedding.
