The Meteorological Department has forecast rain with strong winds and thundershowers for parts of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan today.
However, the majority of the country is expected to remain hot and dry, with temperatures soaring in several regions.
According to the latest weather report, scattered rainfall is expected in the aforementioned areas, bringing a brief respite from the ongoing hot conditions. The rain is expected to be accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, particularly in the higher regions.
Meanwhile, Karachi, the country’s largest city, will continue to experience a severe heatwave. The heatwave is forecast to last until April 23, with no significant relief in sight. The temperature in the city is likely to soar above 40°C, exacerbating the already oppressive conditions for residents.
In other parts of the country, the highest temperature recorded in the last 24 hours was 43°C in Jacobabad, Sindh. Other areas, including parts of Punjab and Balochistan, also recorded temperatures well above 40°C, further intensifying the heatwave.
The weather patterns are expected to persist with hot, dry conditions in most regions, while the sporadic rainfall in northern areas will offer brief relief to the residents there.
