Overseas Pakistanis shattered previous records by sending an astounding $3.24 billion back home in a single month, marking a significant increase in remittances during Eid Al-Adha festivities.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, there was a remarkable 54% surge in remittances in May 2024 compared to the same period last year. This surge reflects the unwavering commitment of overseas Pakistanis to their homeland, particularly during festive seasons.
In the span of 11 months in the current financial year, overseas Pakistanis have contributed a total of $27.1 billion to Pakistan's economy through remittances.
Notably, Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia led the charge by sending $82 million in May, reaffirming their position as the top contributors. Following closely behind, Pakistanis in the UAE sent $67 million, securing the second spot in remittances for the month, as reported by the State Bank.
