Around 962 Sikh pilgrims from India arrived in Lahore via the Wagah border to participate in the 418th anniversary celebrations of Guru Arjan Dev Singh, the fifth guru of the Sikh religion.
The Sikh pilgrims will visit several holy sites in Pakistan, including those in Nankana Sahib, Hasan Abdal, and Kartarpur.
The leader of the Sikh group, Gurabjit Singh, expressed heartfelt sentiments about their visit, saying, "We really want to come to Pakistan again and again and perform religious rituals."
He praised the love and affection they received from Pakistan, noting, "The love and affection received from Pakistan is admirable. I want the love of both countries to remain like this."
Provincial Minority Affairs Minister Ramesh Singh Arora warmly welcomed the Indian Sikh pilgrims. In a conversation with the media, he stated, "We welcome the Indian Sikh community, as 962 Sikh pilgrims have reached Pakistan."
Emphasizing the significance of their visit, Arora added, "The Sikh yatrees are the crown on our head."
The main event of the death anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Singh is scheduled to be held on June 16, according to Arora. He assured that foolproof security arrangements have been made for the Sikh pilgrims, stating, "Taking care of Sikh pilgrims is our responsibility."
Arora highlighted Pakistan's commitment to religious freedom, saying, "Minorities in Pakistan have full religious freedom."
