In the 36th match of the ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan defeated Ireland by 3 wickets.
In the group match held in Lordhill, Florida, Pakistan won the toss and invited Ireland to bat first. The Pakistani bowlers performed brilliantly, leading to a poor performance by the Irish batting line-up.
Batting first, Ireland scored 106 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Imad Wasim each dismissed three players for Pakistan.
While chasing the target, the Pakistani batting line-up faltered, losing 5 players for just 57 runs. However, the team managed to achieve the target of 107 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 18.5 overs.
Captain Babar Azam scored 32 runs off 34 balls, leading the team responsibly. Muhammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, and Abbas Afridi contributed 17 runs each. Shaheen Afridi played an unbeaten innings of 13 runs off 5 balls, including two sixes.
A change was made in the national team for today's match, with Abbas Afridi replacing Naseem Shah in the playing XI.
