On the second day of Eid, Shah Mehmood Qureshi's family members met with him in Adiala Jail including Meher Banu Qureshi, Mehreen Qureshi, and Sameer Chanoy.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s family brought home-cooked food for him.
Qureshi has been acquitted in the infamous cipher case and also acquitted in multiple cases of May 9 riots and right now facing an investigation of May 9 related cases registered in multiple cities.
Zain Qureshi, the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, expressed hope that his father would be released from Adiala Jail after Eid ul Adha. Speaking to journalists in Multan following Eid prayers, Zain noted, "This is my second Eid without my father.
He has offered the greatest sacrifice. I'm hoping he'll be released from jail after Eid."
Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a former foreign minister and close associate of PTI founder Imran Khan, was detained in August last year in connection with the cipher case. Although he was granted bail months later, he was re-arrested. Both Qureshi and Imran Khan were acquitted in the cipher case and several other charges, including vandalism on May 9 and the "Azadi March." However, they remain in jail due to other charges.
Zain also discussed ongoing talks with significant stakeholders, stating that the PTI has never refused to engage in negotiations. He emphasized the party's call for an investigation into the February 8 general elections and the May 9 incidents and demanded the release of imprisoned PTI workers.
Additionally, Zain refuted allegations of internal divisions within PTI, asserting, "There is no conflict amongst PTI leaders."
