Severe weather conditions have swept across various regions in Sindh, bringing dust storms, heavy rain, and widespread power outages. The Meteorological Department reports significant disruptions and damage due to these adverse weather events.
In Johi and its surrounding areas, a dust storm with gusty winds led to the suspension of power supply, causing inconvenience to residents. Similar conditions were observed in Mehrabpur, where a strong wind storm accompanied by rain started, bringing much-needed relief, yet suspending power supply.
Kingri tehsil experienced a severe mud storm followed by heavy rain, breaking the prolonged heat wave but causing power outages. Lakhi Ghulam Shah and its surrounding areas also saw the onset of rain with strong winds, leading to the tripping of electricity feeders and subsequent power cuts.
Larkana and its surrounding areas were hit by a heavy storm and rain, resulting in all electricity feeders shutting down. The rain brought a much-needed break from the intense heat, making the weather more pleasant. Similarly, Sukkur, Rohri, and Shikarpur witnessed heavy rain and strong winds, which disrupted power supply and brought relief from the hot weather.
Naushahro Feroze experienced a drizzle with gusty winds around the city, while Kandiaro and its surroundings were hit by mud storms that uprooted signboards and trees. The heavy rain in Kandiaro caused a decrease in heat intensity but also led to the closure of 12 feeders at the Kandiaro grid station, suspending the power supply.
The adverse weather conditions have caused significant disruption, particularly with power outages reported in multiple areas. Authorities are working to restore power and assess the damage caused by the storms and heavy rains.
Residents are advised to stay indoors during severe weather and follow updates from local authorities for safety information and power restoration updates.
