Pakistan Cricket Team Senior Manager Wahab Riaz submitted on Thursday a detailed report to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) outlining the reasons behind the team's lacklustre performance in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
Sources privy to the development said Wahab Riaz highlighted several key factors contributing to Pakistan's early exit from the prestigious tournament.
The report, addressed to Director Usman Wahla and accompanied by inputs from team manager Mansoor Rana, emphasized critical shortcomings in strategy and execution on the field.
"The national team did not demonstrate the required level of skilful cricket that is expected at such high-stakes events," Wahab Riaz reportedly stated in his detailed analysis. "There was a noticeable lack of coordination among the players, resulting in a failure to implement our game plans effectively."
Sources also revealed that the report also lamented the team's demeanour during crucial matches, particularly the encounter against arch-rivals India.
"The players showed a lack of coordination and passion, and seemed to lose their will to win, especially in the match against India," the report stated candidly.
In terms of future improvements, Wahab Riaz offered several suggestions aimed at enhancing Pakistan's cricketing prospects on the international stage.
These included advocating for more extensive training camps for players, increased participation in domestic cricket events to bolster skills and fitness, and organizing more tours to acclimatize players to varying conditions.
The PCB has acknowledged receipt of the report but has not yet made any official statements regarding its content or implications for the team's management structure moving forward.
