Pakistani-American businessman Ali Sheikhani taking to his short-video streaming platform Instagram claimed he wanted to ‘buy’ K-Electric Supply Company so people of Karachi to get rid of hours-long load shedding.
He said people of Karachi have been suffering from dacoity and robbery incidents and so many of them lost their lives while resisting mobile snatching incidents.
Ali Sheikhani said he wanted to buy K-electric not to make money out of Karachi but to serve the middle-class people of ‘his city’ — Karachi.

Earlier, K-Electric had requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase the base electricity tariff in Karachi by Rs10 from Rs33 to Rs44, as part of K-Electric’s comprehensive investment plan including establishing 14 new grid stations and laying 550 kilometers of transmission lines in Karachi over the next 7 years.
