BJP ally Prajwal Revanna has been implicated in multiple cases of sexual harassment, including allegations of raping over 400 women.
Revanna, who is also accused of using and distributing videos of women for blackmail, fled to Europe on April 27 using his diplomatic passport and was arrested on his return to Bengaluru on May 31.
Former BJP MLA Preetham J. Gowda from Hassan is also facing charges of sexual harassment. The first information report includes the names of Gowda and two others.
Additionally, Revanna was booked under a section of the Information Technology Act for secretly recording and distributing images of women.
Revanna's brother, Suraj Revanna, was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a male party worker at a farmhouse. Despite the severity of these allegations, the Modi government has been criticized for its lack of action.
A former councilor of Bangalore, who was allegedly raped by Prajwal Revanna, reported the incident to local media, stating that Revanna continued to assault her even after fleeing India.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi of the Congress Party have condemned the Modi government's response, accusing it of supporting the accused and remaining silent on the matter.
