Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood warning for the Marala area in the Chenab River, with the risk of medium to high-level flooding anticipated from July 4th to July 7th.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, the water level at Marala is continuously rising, prompting the issuance of an alert to the districts adjacent to the Chenab River. These districts include Sialkot, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad.
The deputy commissioners of Chiniot, Jhang, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Multan, and Rajanpur have also been instructed to ensure arrangements to avoid untoward incident.
PDMA Punjab Director General Irfan Ali Kathia emphasized the importance of keeping staff alert in emergency control rooms and ensuring that disaster response teams, particularly those from Rescue 1122 are on high alert.
PDMA urged residents in the affected areas to stay informed about the situation and follow any instructions from local authorities to ensure their safety.
