Eight Pakistan Army personnel were martyred and 10 terrorists killed in a recent attack on the Bannu Cantonment.
According to Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR), the armed forces' media wing, the security forces foiled a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment when 10 terrorists attempted to breach its defences on the morning of July 15.
The terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into one of the walls of the cantonment, however, the forces foiled the terrorists' attempt to enter the area, the ISPR stated, adding that a wall was destroyed in the attack.
Moreover, eight security personnel were martyred in the attack. Among the martyrs were Naib Subedar Muhammad Shehzad, Hawaldar Zil Hussain, Havaldar Shehzad Ahmed, Lance Naik Sabz Ali, Sepoy Ashfaq Hussain, Sepoy Subhan Majeed, Sepoy Imtiaz Khan, and Sepoy Arsalan Aslam.
In response to the attack, security forces swiftly neutralized all 10 terrorists, preventing further casualties. The ISPR commended the timely and effective action of the armed forces, which saved numerous lives during the assault.
The ISPR attributed the heinous act to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, known for continuing to carry out terrorist activities against Pakistan from Afghan soil. The group has been using the Afghan soil to attack Pakistan in the past also.
Pakistan has consistently raised concerns with the interim Afghan government regarding the use of Afghan territory by such terrorist elements, and asked it to prevent such continuous attacks. Pakistan has also asked the Afghan authorities to take effective action against such terrorist elements.
Expressing resolve against terrorism, the ISPR reiterated that Pakistan's armed forces will continue defending the country and its people from all threats emanating from Afghanistan. Measures to bolster security and counter terrorism will be intensified in the wake of this incident.
