Federal Minister of Interior and Anti-Narcotics Mohsin Naqvi approved and decided to conduct National Drug Survey in the country after 11 years.
Mohsin Naqvi chaired a meeting of the Committee for National Drug Survey to collect data on drug users across the country.
“National drug survey should be comprehensive and authentic. Accurate survey data is of real importance and will be beneficial,” Naqvi said.
The minister gave instructions to collect data from homes, educational institutions, slums and other places also.
“There will be no compromise on anti-narcotics, it is a matter of the nation's future,” Mohsen Naqvi said.
He directed ministry authorities to finalize matters related to survey within 15 days.
The ANF and the Statistics Bureau of Pakistan (SBP) should work out the survey procedure. The type of data required, sample format and timeline should also be developed, he added.
International development organizations should also be contacted for cooperation in the survey.
The last National Drug Survey in the country was conducted in 2013.
