Smriti Mandhana (45 off 31) and Deepti Sharma (3-20) powered India Women to a thumping seven-victory against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2nd match of the Asia Cup at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Friday.
Chasing a 109-run target, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side had completed the equation with 35 balls sparing. Indian openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana were outstanding with the bat and went to rack up an 85-run partnership to provide India with a with a platform to sweep past Pakistan.
Mandhana utilised her experience and went on to compile 31-ball 45, smashing nine boundaries before she was removed by Syeda Aroob Shah. Verma had also scored a crucial 29-ball 40, studding with six boundaries and one six.
For Pakistan, only Aroob Shah (2-9) and Nashra Sandhu (1-20) could pick up wickets for Pakistan.
Earlier, after deciding to bat first, Pakistan were off to a devastating start, with only four batters able to reach the double digits. Only Sidra Amin (25 off 35), Fatima Sana (22 off 16) and Tuba Hassan (22 off 19) showed some resistance with the bat.
For India, everyone picked up wickets with the exception of Radha Yadav.
Deepti Sharma (3-20) spearheaded the bowling department.
Renuka Singh (2-14), Shreyanka Patil (2-14), Pooja Vastrakar (2-31) took two wickets apiece.
