Pakistan cricket team's fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi stated on Monday that he is dedicated to playing for Pakistan with honour and does not concern himself with thoughts of captaincy.
While addressing the media in Karachi, Afridi emphasized that the matter of captaincy is beyond his control. "The captaincy is not in my hands, so I don't think about it," he remarked.
The pace ace reiterated his commitment to focusing on his performance and staying positive. "My training is not such that I focus on negative things," he added.
Regarding his potential inclusion in the squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, Afridi admitted uncertainty. "I don't know whether I will be included in the squad to play the Test series against Bangladesh or not," he said.
It is pertinent to mention that following Pakistan's defeat in the ODI World Cup last year, Babar Azam stepped down from the captaincy of all three formats.
Subsequently, Shaheen Shah Afridi was appointed as the T20 captain. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board later reinstated Babar Azam as the captain for both ODI and T20 formats.
