Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently unwell and cancelled all his engagements Tuesday and now Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at the oath-taking ceremony of the Iranian President in Tehran.
In addition to his duties as Deputy Prime Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, who also serves as the Foreign Minister, is scheduled to depart for Tehran today.
During his visit, he will lead the Pakistani delegation at the swearing-in ceremony of the Iranian President.
Ishaq Dar is expected to hold a significant meeting with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth to discuss Pakistan's diplomatic relations and regional cooperation.
The government has expressed confidence in Deputy Prime Minister Dar's ability to effectively represent Pakistan and manage international engagements during Prime Minister Sharif's recovery.
Earlier, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei formally endorsed Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran's new president. Iran’s supreme leader handed over the signed decree to Pezeshkian.
The decree states that the election concluded with calmness and sobriety in difficult conditions and that the new president is ready to assume great responsibility.
Who is Masoud Pezeshkian?
Masoud Pezeshkian, 69-year-old, is a cardiac surgeon who stood victories by defeating his conservative rival and former security body chief Saeed Jalili by more than three million votes in the second round of presidential on July 5.
