The price of chicken meat has surged sharply in Lahore and other cities across Punjab, causing concern among residents who are already grappling with high living costs.
The current rate in Lahore has soared to over Rs650 per kilogram, significantly higher than the official government rate of Rs594 per kilogram.
Despite the district government issuing price lists, the rates are not being adhered to, exacerbating the issue.
This alarming trend is not confined to Punjab alone. Cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, are witnessing even steeper hikes in chicken meat prices.
Local traders in these regions report that live chicken meat now costs Rs490 per kilogram, with broiler chicken meat prices rising by approximately Rs100 per kilogram recently.
