The government of Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to realizing the vision of Digital Pakistan, with significant strides being made under the leadership of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima, emphasized the government's dedication to digital transformation during her address at the inaugural Digital National Conference organized by the Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA).
In her speech, Shaza Fatima outlined the government's strategic efforts to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas, ensuring that the benefits of digital technology reach every corner of the country. "The aim of digital technology is to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas and digitize the economy, governance, and society," she stated, highlighting the central role that digital innovation plays in Pakistan's national agenda.
The Minister of State also underscored the ongoing efforts to enhance the country's digital infrastructure, a top priority for the SIFC. She highlighted the remarkable progress made in the information technology sector, which has led to a record increase in IT exports in the last financial year. This growth, she noted, is a testament to the government's effective policies and initiatives aimed at fostering a robust digital economy.
"There are vast opportunities for the youth in the IT sector, and the importance of skill-based education is essential," Shaza Fatima remarked, emphasizing the need for equipping the younger generation with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age. She stressed that the inclusion of youth in the country's economy through information technology is crucial for ensuring a secure and prosperous future for Pakistan.
