At least 11 police personnel were martyred in an attack on two police vehicles by robbers in Rahim Yar Khan’s Tehsil Sadiqabad on Thursday.
The police personnel were returning from duty in the Fatehpur Basti Salman area when their vehicles were ambushed. According to sources, there were over 15 police officers in the two vehicles, making it a massive targeted attack.
District Police Officer (DPO) Imran Ahmad confirmed the incident, stating that the robbers attacked when one of the police mobiles broke down near Fatehpur.
He added that a team from across the district has been dispatched to the site to assist in the investigation.
The attack has led to multiple casualties and injuries among the officers. A district-wide team has been dispatched to the scene to manage the situation and gather further details.
Four of 12 police personal belong to Liaquatpur
Four of the twelve police personnel killed in the Machka attack belong to Liaquatpur tehsil of district Rahim Yar Khan.
Constable Munir Ahmed is also among the martyrs. Shaheed Munir Ahmad left his wife and two children along with parents and four brothers.
The funeral prayers of the martyred personnel will be offered in their native areas.
Punjab Police said 12 officers were martyred while eight were injured in last night's attack.
