The Punjab Cabinet has approved a series of allowances for the families of employees and officers who died while in service, marking a significant move towards supporting the welfare of the bereaved families.
The Punjab Finance Department, following the cabinet's approval, has issued a formal notification detailing the allowances that will be provided to the families of the deceased employees.
The approved allowances include House Rent Allowance, a 20% Special Allowance, Medical Allowance, Utility Allowance, and Ad Hoc Relief Allowance. These measures are intended to offer financial relief and stability to the families affected by the loss of their loved ones during their service.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar, who instructed Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil to prepare the necessary proposals for these allowances.
This move aligns with the precedent set by the Establishment Division in February 2015, which sanctioned various grants for officers who died in service. The new allowances approved by the Punjab Cabinet represent a continuation of these efforts, further extending support to the families of the province's public servants.
