The Punjab prisons department has announced the transfer of Additional Superintendent Aftab Ahmed along with three other senior officers from Adiala jail, Rawalpindi.
Ahmed, who was previously tasked with the security and transportation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, has been reassigned to the Punjab Prison Staff Training College in Sahiwal as the security officer.
He had been appointed to Adiala Jail on June 25, following the transfer of former deputy superintendent Muhammad Akram. His role involved overseeing the movement of high-profile prisoners, including the PTI founder, from their cells to court appearances.
Additionally, Lady Deputy Superintendent Samra Jabeen has been moved to the Deputy Superintendent Education Regional Office in Bahawalpur, while Deputy Superintendent Mazhar Iqbal Aslam has been reassigned to the Deputy Superintendent Education Regional Office in Dera Ghazi Khan.
These three officers were previously responsible for supervising and transporting key detainees, including the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi, to and from the jail court.
The Punjab prisons department has issued a formal notification detailing these appointments and transfers.
This shake-up follows the recent detention of former Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram, who was implicated in allegations of facilitating the PTI founder. The department also conducted an inquiry involving Assistant Superintendent Bilal.
