Recent evidence has surfaced, highlighting the use of Afghan territory for terrorist activities in Pakistan. Despite multiple warnings from the Pakistani government, the Afghan interim government has failed to take concrete action against foreign terrorists operating from their soil. On 27th August 2024, during an operation in Thira, Pakistani forces arrested an Afghan national, Abdullah, son of Nisar, who was attempting to infiltrate the country.
Abdullah, a resident of Nangarhar, Afghanistan, admitted to receiving terrorist training in his hometown and was instructed to carry out attacks in various parts of Pakistan. He revealed that his group, which included IED experts, was well-equipped with explosives for these missions. A video of Abdullah's confession has been released, further substantiating claims of cross-border terrorism supported by elements within Afghanistan.
These revelations contradict the recent statement made by Afghan Army Chief Fasihuddin on 28th August, where he claimed that Pakistan had not provided any substantial evidence regarding terrorist activities. The arrest and confession of Abdullah provide irrefutable proof that Afghan soil continues to be used for destabilizing Pakistan, raising concerns about the security of the region.
The Pakistani government has urged the Afghan interim government to take immediate and decisive action against terrorists operating from their territory, as their continued support poses a significant threat to regional peace.
