Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has attributed the recent damage to roads in Karachi to actions taken by citizens during heavy rains.
According to Ghani, individuals are removing the covers from main sewerage lines, which leads to flooding and subsequent damage to the roads.
Speaking at a press conference, Ghani stated that the removal of sewerage line covers causes sewage water to spill onto the streets, contributing to the deterioration of road surfaces. He emphasized that this issue has been exacerbated by improper handling of sewerage infrastructure by the public.
The minister's comments have sparked discussions about the responsibility for maintaining road quality and managing sewerage systems effectively.
