Green Tourism Pakistan, with support from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), has launched several initiatives to promote investment in the country's tourism sector.
Key measures include visa-on-arrival for 126 countries, visa-free entry for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and fast-track visa processing within 24 hours. These steps are expected to attract approximately $80 million in foreign direct investment and 8.3 billion rupees in local investment.
To enhance tourist facilities, Green Tourism Private Limited has initiated four-star and five-star city hotels and hunting resorts in Naltar, Hunza, and Skardu. Development work has commenced at 17 out of 78 identified locations in the first phase.
The company has received approval to establish a central agency to promote tourism and increase air operations. Special measures have been taken to ensure the safety of religious tourists, particularly Sikh and Buddhist visitors.
A Green Guide Quality Program has been introduced to provide high-quality tour guides. To showcase regional culture, a luxury bus tour from Islamabad to Peshawar has been launched.
The SIFC-supported Green Tourism project is expected to boost economic activities and introduce new tourism initiatives.
