The Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Alia Neelam personally summoned the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a petition against a fake video involving Azma Zahid Bokhari.
LHC Chief Justice Alia Neelam heard the case and adjourned the hearing till Sept 23.
LHC CJ Justice Alia Neelam expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs of FIA stating the compromised system will not work and sought a comprehensive report from the FIA in the next hearing.
Falak Javed's Father's Application, the court also directed Falak Javed’s father to file a separate application alongside his family’s plea.
“You should file a separate application and write your reservations in it,” Justice Neelam emphasized, acknowledging concerns raised by the lawyer representing Falak's mother regarding the improper treatment they allegedly faced after their house was raided four times.
Deputy Attorney General Asad Bajwa presented the FIA’s report during the session, but the court raised several concerns.
Chief Justice Neelam questioned the competence of the FIA’s personnel, remarking, “Your report shows that your people are not eligible for these seats.”
The hearing also addressed the case of Haider Ali, the accused in custody.
According to the federal government’s lawyer, Haider’s mobile phone had been sent for forensic analysis.
The judge questioned why a transit remand had been sought without Haider Ali being in FIA custody, adding, “Transitory remand is taken when the accused is in your custody.”
The provincial apex court was apprised that Haider Ali had obtained interim bail from the Sessions Court of Lahore after being arrested by Matta Police Station.
LHC Chief Justice Neelam expressed concern over how the accused could be granted bail while still listed in the FIA’s FIR, asking, “How did your FIR pre-judicial magistrate grant bail?”
The federal government's lawyer highlighted the lack of cooperation from the KP Police, complicating efforts to move forward in the case. Chief Justice Neelam expressed frustration, stating, “Your strength is moving here in Punjab, whoever you want to be arrested.”
The court adjourned the hearing until September 23, and further action regarding the FIA's report.
